Launch of 'Investing in chief allied health professionals: insights from trust executives - a guide for trust boards and clinicians

Launched at the Chief AHP Officer's conference ysterday this report and guide, ‘Investing in chief allied health professional roles: insights from trust executives’, seeks to better understand these roles through honest insights from trust executives who had developed a chief AHP role within their organisation. Executives overwhelmingly recognised that once chief AHP leadership is in place, the value and contribution of the workforce is immediate. One who took part summed up: "I feel like I may have spent 20 years not appreciating what the AHP workforce can contribute."

The guide contains key questions for trust boards and senior leaders to consider about the potential benefits and common barriers to developing AHP leadership capacity and capability throughout their organisations and system as well as key Insights as to how their organisations are benefiting from dedicated chief AHP leadership. The aim is to give board members, and current and aspiring AHP leaders, ideas about how they can start reviewing their AHP leadership capacity and capability. The publication adds to the growing list of national publications asking the system to prioritise the need for diverse clinical leadership at senior levels.
