Launched today: Driving forward social prescribing: A framework for Allied Health Professionals to support implementation of social prescribing - engagement & leadership.

The framework has been developed by The Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH), NHS Improvement/NHS England and Public Health England (PHE) to articulate the contribution AHPs make to social prescribing and how their role can be developed.

The development has involved all of the AHP professional bodies as well as voluntary sector organisations and the RCGP. A survey undertaken as part of the development of the framework had 2300 responses in 2 weeks demonstrating the interest in this agenda across the AHP professions.

The framework covers the spectrum of AHP engagement in social prescribing from light touch through to intensive support; it also includes a wide range of case studies from different AHPs working in a variety of settings. These case studies highlight the exciting work already being done by many AHPs to engage people with social prescribing and should encourage and all AHPs of the value of social prescribing in their daily work.

We’ll be officially launching this work at the International Social Prescribing Conference on 12th July and then again at Chief AHP Officer Conference on the 18th July.
